Seema Raja Witnesses Huge Drop On Its 1st Monday At The Box Office

Siva Karthikeyan starrer Seema Raja, one of the most expected films, hit the screens worldwide on September 13. The much-hyped film opened to mixed reviews from both audience and critics alike. The third outing from Siva Karthikeyan and director Ponram after 'Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam' and Rajini Murugan has failed to create a mark at the Box Office. The film which had a roaring start at the Box Office did good business in its opening weekend despite all negativities, but negative word of mouth has impacted the film's business on the first weekday Monday itself.

The box office collection of Seema Raja saw a huge drop on Monday (Day 5). The film which minted Rs. 1.01 cr on Day in Chennai city has managed to collect only Rs. 27 lakhs on Day 5. The film has witnessed a sharp decline of more than 50 - 60% on Monday. The film's estimated gross in TN for 5 days is around Rs. 28- 29 cr. The film performance is faltering in other states and overseas market as well.

Day 1 - Rs. 1.01 cr

Day 2 - Rs. 59 lakh

Day 3 - Rs. 66 lakh

Day 4 - Rs. 77 lakh

Day 5 - Rs. 27 lakh

Total - Rs. 3.3 cr

Kerala - Rs. 75 lakhs

Karnataka - Rs. 2. 15 crore

Rest of India - Rs. 40 lakhs

The films saw a huge dip in their collections in the overseas market as well. The collections dropped in USA on Sunday (Day 4). The film has collected around Rs. 53 lakhs ($73K) from the USA Box Office.

Sunday Premiere - $5,760

Day 1 - $10,314

Day 2 - $21,865

Day 3 - $24,514

Day 4 - $10,077 (Drop by more than 50%)

Total - $72,530 (Rs 52.56 L)

Here's the overseas Box Office Collection of Seema Raja

UAE / GCC  - Rs. 2.76 cr

 UK - £ 41,851 (Rs. 39.69 L)

 AustraliaA$58,183 (Rs. 30.20 L)

New Zealand - NZ$7,792 (Rs. 3.71 L)

Malaysia - MYR 403,454 (Rs. 70.65 L)* (Reported Screens)

Germany - 5,122 € (Rs. 4.32 L)

The heavy drop in the collection on Monday does not seem to be a good sign for the movie. It will also be facing tough competition from Vikram's Saamy Square and Mani Ratnam's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam which are lined up for release in the coming weeks. We need to wait and see if the film can make a break even at box office in the coming days.
