Sketch is more of an emotional film than commercial, says cinematographer Sukumar

Vikram - Tamannaah starrer Sketch is gearing up for a grand Pongal release on January 12, 2018 and in an exclusive chat with MovieCrow, cinematographer Sukumar opens up about the film and his experience of working with the lead actors.

"It was Vikram who recommended me to Vijay Chander for Sketch and I am very happy with the way the film has turned out. The script definitely has a message and it the way it kept shaping up, my interest level kept increasing."

Vikram and Sukumar go a long way back and he has worked with Tamannaah in Dharmadurai earlier. Sharing his experience on working with them, the Mynaa dop said,

"15 years ago I worked with Vikram Sir as a photographer on Samurai and today when i work with him as a cinematographer I find nothing has changed between us. He has a great interest in photography himself and despite me being a professional, I got to learn a lot from him both now and then. Not only with me, he shares a great camaraderie with everyone like that and gives you full freedom to work with him.

The initial poster of Sketch was proof enough for the kind of film it was going to be. You will get to see Vikram Sir like never before and those who watch the film will relate to him instantly. The emotional quotient is high and just like the director Vijay Chander said there is every possibility of one tearing up while watching. I've seen Tamannaah literally live her character for Sketch. She has performed exceedingly well in the movie."

Sukumar is unfazed by competition though and feels a holiday like Pongal should feel like a festival of films too. But he quickly adds, "Too many film releases would defeat the purpose. But 2-3 films could give people the variety they want and enjoy their favourite stars." He concludes, "Sketch will be a Pongal treat for Vikram fans and the Vikram-Tamannaah chemistry is definitely one to watch out for. Not only their fans but everyone can see and enjoy the film."

Directed by Vijay Chander and presented by Kalaipuli S Thanu, Sketch will hit theatre screens on January 12, 2018. Sukumar on the other hand will be seen working on Kumki 2 and Arjun Reddy remake Varma in Tamil.
