Junooniyat Movie Review - Been there seen that over a thousand times.

How many movies that release in a year are based on love stories? And how many of those love storiesare different than each other? If similar, how much similar can they be? Junooniyat is a film with such a stereotypical love story that we have been told and showed over and over again.

Yes, both the leads falls in love, army background creates family problems which leads to separation
which further leads to misunderstandings. But if it's not happy, it' not the end. How cliché and
predictable can you get? Neither the story nor the storytelling leaves any impact.

An outgoing, high on life punjabi girl Suhani (Yami Gautam) falls in love with an army officer named
Jahaan (Pulkit Samrat). When the girl's family discovers about their relationship, it disapproves of it because of a horrible past. Both decides to separate but soon realize that they can't live without onanother. Even several misunderstandings crop up between them. What will happen to their love story, will they meet again, will they get together is the rest of the story.

The direction by Vivek Agnihotri is pretty mediocre with very average storytelling and no special
moments to talk about. Even the editing seemed lateback. What was the worst was writing. Apart from the little shayeris in between, the dialogues were cheesy, melodramatic and heard over a thousand times. The only good thing about the movie was perhaps its decent music and the locations where it's shot.

Talking about the performances, nothing exceptional that one can mention here. Pulkit Samrat was
Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam was Yami Gautam! No character traits when it comes to an army officer or a larger than life punjabi. Their overacting and timing made the movie all the more miserable. Gulshan as the sacrificing groom did a fine job. Rest of the actors were also decent.

Bottomline:

In all, this film should definitely be skipped as there's nothing worthwhile. Watch Kuch Kuch Hota Hai instead. And I humbly request to filmmakers to try and bring new and fresh content to their audiences.
