As reported previously, it has now been officially announced that the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of Ajith starrer Thunivu has been bagged by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The film will be distributed in association with Romeo Pictures. The announcement was made via a poster which also confirmed that Thunivu will be releasing in January for Pongal, 2023, and will be going head on against Vijay's Varisu at the holiday box-office. 

Directed by H Vinoth, Thunivu is touted to be a bank heist thriller based on the infamous Punjab bank robbery case and the movie also stars Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, John Kokken among others. The film is produced by Boney Kapoor's Bay View Projects, Zee Studios and the OTT and satellite rights of Thunivu are with Netflix and Kalaignar TV respectively.
