Chennai Civil Court dismisses plagiarism case against Vijay's Bigil

In the month of April, director Atlee was called out in the media by an aspiring film-maker named K.P. Selva for allegedly using the plot-line of the latter's story for Bigil (then Thalapathy 63). In several interviews, Selva had alleged that he had been working on a script with woman's football team as the theme and had shared a 75 page soft-copy of the same with one of the mutual friends he shared with Atlee.

Following this, KP Selva filed a case in court claiming that the story and screenplay of Bigil belonged to him and had sought for an order of injunction restraining the shoot and release of the movie.

After several hearings, KP Selva has now backtracked and filed an application to withdraw the suit itself with the liberty to file a fresh suit later. It is said that the court has permitted withdrawal of the suit but declined permission to institute a fresh suit on the same cause of action.
