It's been a dry run at the box office this summer. Will NGK revive the industry?

Usually, a lot of filmmakers cash in on the summer holidays every year and make good profits. However, most of the films which released this summer haven't created any impact at the box office. While Avengers: Endgame and Kanchana 3 managed to attract audience to theatres, other summer releases like Kee, 100, K-13 could not sustain at the box office. Even biggies like Mr. Local and Ayogya did not increase the footfall to cinema halls.

The Tamil Nadu gross of recent movies are as follows:

Kee - ₹3.5Crore

100 - ₹5.6 Crore

Mr. Local - ₹22 Crore

Ayogya - ₹11 Crore

Last week's releases, Lisaa and Neeya 2 could also not take a good opening. With the Criket World Cup just around the corner and summer holidays are about to come to an end, the trade is hoping that Suriya's NGK will turn the tide of the industry this weekend.
