Shankar's "I" stalls due to financial troubles

The sources close to Shankar's I team has revealed that the movie is now stalled temporarily due to its producer Aascar Ravichandran tightening the belt drastically. The crew members have reported that the checks issued by the producer have been bouncing. The editing and computer graphics efforts have also come to a standstill. Until the producer opens up the wallet, no progress is expected to be made. Meanwhile Shankar has been spending a lot of time with his associates in Bangalore writing a few one-liner scripts for his next movie.

Will "I" exceed Rs.100 Crores?

Shankar's I is 60% completed and the spend so far is estimated to be Rs. 65 Crores spent till date. By extrapolating, the production cost of "I" is expected to exceed Rs.100 Crores at the current spend levels. The distribution sources claim that Aascar's concern originates from the fact whether a Vikram (even with Shankar onboard) will be able do business north of Rs.100 Crores.

As per the current shooting plan, Shankar is expected to begin his next schedule from July 1st while Vikram has been working out diligently to reduce 15 Kgs before the next schedule.
