Sacred Games Controversy: Rahul Gandhi has no objections over Rajiv Gandhi's portrayal!

Sacred Games, adapted from Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel and starring Bollywood-familiar faces Saif Ali Khan and Nawazzudin Siddique, is one of Netflix’s original productions in India and is directed by Bollywood-familiar names Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. The web series is currently in the news for facing multiple legal petitions over the portrayal of the late Rajiv Gandhi, for the series showcases an archive footage of the former Prime Minister with voice-over by Siddique who plays a gangster in it.

Surprisingly though, Rajiv Gandhi's son and the current congress President Rahul Gandhi put a full stop to the fire even before it could start by sending out a tweet which said:

The tweet was seen as a welcome change from many in the Hindi film industry, though acclaimed Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar who has films like Fashion, Heroine and Calendar Girls to his credit, chose to point out the hypocrisy in Rahul Gandhi's take, as his last release Indu Sarkar (2017) did not receive a vote of support from him, despite being vigorously opposed by members of the Indian National Congress.
Bhandarkar's tweet is believed to be aimed at the fact that Gandhi chose to come clean, only after BJP lost its popularity among the masses for creating a row over Padamavat and Mersal. Nevertherless, two of the legal petitions still remain un-withdrawn despite Rahul Gandhi's tweet in support of Sacred Games, which is written by Varun Grover, Vasant Nath and Smita Singh.
