Oppam Oppam

The much-awaited Mohanlal-starrer Priyadarshan film Oppam released today in 104 theatres across Kerala. Even though the last few movies of Priyadarshan-Mohanlal combo were unable to make a mark in the box office, the trailer and promos of Oppam created a high level of expectation for the movie. The film is directed and scripted by Priyadarshan and produced by Antony Perumbavoor for Aashirvad Cinemas. The story is by Govind Vijayan. Oppam is the fortieth project of the Priyadarshan-Mohanlal combo and it stars Mohanlal, Baby Meenakshi, Vimala Raman, Anusree, Nedumudi Venu, Mamukkoya, and Arjun Nandhakumar in primary roles. In this crime thriller, Mohanlal plays the role of Jayaraman, a lift operator in flat who was born as a visually challenged man but with good senses of sound, smell and touch and this advantages helps him a lot to solve some problems in his life. The main plot of the movie revolves around the murder that happened in that flat.As soon as the murder happened, Jayaraman came to that place and identified the presence of the murderer there. He found out the real murderer but cant prove that before police. He also cant reveal the real reason behind the murder because of some personal reasons. The second half started with some comedy scenes and ended with a decent climax. The police station scenes and then moves into a serious phase and ended with a decent climax. The police station scenes were good. All actors in Oppam performed well. Mohanlal portrays the role of Jayaraman convincingly and deserves a huge applause. The performance delivered by samuthirakani was too effective. Baby Meenakshi and Anusree performed well while Vimala Ramans performance was little bit disappointing. Performances of Nedumudi Venu, Mamukkoya and Chemban Vinod Jose were too good. The direction by Priyadarsan was brilliant and script was fine with an unpredictable storyline. But when we are comparing with his old classics, this movie couldnt occupy a place in his top 5 movies list. Cinematography by N. K. Ekambaram was excellent. Effectiveness of cinematography has increased with the help of mind-blowing colour tone Music by 4 musics was great to hear and the song Chinnnamma may remind us the old classic songs from Mohanlal- M G Sreekumar combo. Ron Ethan Yohaans background music has increased the impact of some scenes. Overall, Oppam is a superb thriller, which is mixed well with comedy, music and drama. Verdict: Superhit/ Blockbuster Rating: 3.75/5 https://www.topmovierankings.com/malayalam-movie-reviews/oppam-malayalam-movie-review---its-time-to-say-oppam-daa-2016
