A true-blue horror film!
There are horror films and then there are Indian horror films and then there are horror comedies.The Aval team in their promotions had made it clear that theirs is a true blue horror film and they had no intention of diluting the essence by packaging it as a product that could cater to everyone. Go for it to witness a pure horror that keeps you on the edge of the seat for a large part of the time.
The true heroes of 'Aval' is sound designer Vishnu Govind and his team who have done a terrific job of keeping the audiences on their toes. Technically the film is excellent transporting the viewer to the cold climate in which the story happens and the art director also deserves a pat on the back.(more)

Honestly made horror thriller that has its moments
The writing is strong and the dialogues meaningful. Right after your first introduction with the ghost, you get a �Basic Instinct� style intimate scene, and you are left wondering why it happens. Intelligently made scare-fare
Aval does keep you hooked most of the time. Siddharth and Andrea fit their parts well, while Atul Kulkarni (as Paul) does manage to look afraid most of the time due to what�s happening around him. (more)

Aval doesn't have an all-new story which we haven't seen or heard. But what makes it a refreshing watch is the slew of neatly arranged and engaging sequences with ample twists which are expected from a horror flick. (more)
