3 is sincere and refreshing

There are certain moments in 3 that defy logic at times, and sentiment rules the roost, but Aishwarya Dhanush has chosen to present a take on romance that is appealing in its freshness. The lead actors help as well. Her little thriller-twist aside, 3 is a movie that is an ode to romance, above all else. (more)

Poignant

An impressive achievement both in writing and direction, the film is full of fine nuances and sharp observations that stay with you. Comedy and romance are beautifully weaved into the story in a realistic manner. Songs by Anirudh are a major plus for the film and they go with the flow of the story. Good performances, slower narration

Dhanush- Need we say anything on this talented artist? He is in a different higher league and can sail across any role. Having said that, we cannot rule out the hangover of Mayakkam Enna in this film. For Shruthi who gets a meaty role in 3 manages to dish out a neat performance although struggling hard in the heavy duty emotional scenes. As regards the technical department, cinematographer Velraj and editor Kola Bhaskar have worked as per the dictates of the film. The difference in looks, costumes and body language in the different age group of Dhanush and Shruthi is well delineated.(more)

3 is Worth a Watch

Aishwarya R Dhanush shows sparks of brilliance in her directorial debut, and marks herself as a name to look out for in Tamil cinema. She establishes her credentials in the first scene itself, when she shows people grieving over a dead body (a rarity in Tamil cinema), and displays a commendable grasp over the medium. (more)

3 is an Average Fare

On the whole, '3' is not a stunning debut from a much expected filmmaker. At the same time, it is not a film which you could avoid. Delete all the expectations from your mind and enjoy the film.(more)

Dhanush, Anirudh carry the movie

Credit should be given to Aishwarya also for not having Kolaveri Di as the focal point. Velrajs cinematography is a highpoint which captures different emotions in varied tones. (more)
