A comedy which will give you a jolly good time

The initial parts of the first half, with plenty of laugh aloud moments, set the bar pretty high. The film doesn't quite live up to it afterwards, as written earlier. But, there are enough fun moments sprinkled here and there for Gulaebaghavali to work for you as an undemanding entertainer.(more)

Prabhudheva, Revathi's heist comedy is enjoyable but patchy

If not for the battalion of comedians - especially the portion featuring Rajendran in the second half - Gulaebaghavali would've fallen flat. Still, the enjoyable portions, like the one featuring some men fighting over a human skeleton in the climax in particular, stand out and makes up for everything else that didn't quite work.(more)

This Hansika Motwani-Prabhudheva starrer is inconsistent

Gulaebaghavali is a mindless caper that relies on its laughs to help the viewer ride through the logic loopholes. Several recent movies have fallen under this new genre of 'mindless entertainers'. But why does a film have to mindless to be funny? Coming from a history of well-written comedies, is it too much to ask for some logic in our laughs?(more)

GULAEBAGHAVALI MOVIE REVIEW

hat said, there is something amiss with the film; it isn't as wacky as its premise sounds, and not as funny as it could have been. The writing isn't compelling enough and there are stretches where the loudness in the humour comes close to being juvenile. A duet in the second half only serves to increase the duration. But, luckily for us, there is a laugh just around the corner of an unengaging scene and this keeps the film entertaining while it lasts.(more)

Gulaebaghavali is watchable for its comedy that will appeal to the masses.

We start feeling the run time of the film when it doesn't race to a convincing end. Director Kalyaan has eyed a proper commercial vehicle for Prabhu Deva banking on the actor's inherent comedic abilities while also giving him a build-up as an action hero, the side of Prabhu Deva that we have not seen in a long time. Lack of grip in the script, lag in the screenplay and few filmy dialogues, are major downers but if you could ignore these negatives and are only looking for some fun moments, Gulaebaghavali is worth your money.(more)
