A jolly good ride for summer vacation.

Dialogues are by Pandiraj which become the major highlight of the film. They are sharp, witty and topical, the best being Cauvery water and tomatoes. GV Prakash and Yogi Babu combination is lively, with most of the latter's one-liners bringing the roof down. Yogi Babu delivers a cool and a nonchalant performance. His popularity can be felt by the hoots and whistles from the audience. Post interval his stint with the MLA's son's phone brings loud cheer.(more)

A tried and tested plot

Sema offers nothing new in terms of story, narration or performances, and is predictable to the core. The lead pairs, GV Prakash and Arthana, are just okay, while Kovai Sarala and Sujatha played their part well. The spontaneous counters and one-liners of Yogi Babu and a few scenes of Mansoor are the only saving grace of the movie. (more)

A fun filled family movie that keeps you entertained

Sema is a fun filled movie that keeps us entertained throughout mainly because of the familiar actors and the light hearted treatment. Technically GV Prakash Kumar's songs are big hits, especially the Saandali and Urutu Kannala tracks. Cinematographer Vivekanandan has perfectly captured the rural beauty in the film with breezy visuals. The crisp run time is another positive for the film. (more)

This GV Prakash film is a laidback entertainer

Sema treads a very familiar path of romantic drama, which is set against the backdrop of an instantly relatable mother-son relationship. Sujatha is an underrated actor and though she's slightly over the top at times in her performance, she owns the mother's part. Halfway into the film, when an important character proposes to the heroine and she rejects him, citing reason that she likes someone else, most of us would know how the film will end. Theres no surprise in how Vallikanth treats this angle in the story.(more)

Just have fun and a healthy laugh with this one-time watch

The film travels in a predictable manner without any twists and turns. You can't really take it too seriously - just have fun and a healthy laugh. Thankfully, there are no double entendres or sleazy scenes. Prakash's music is okay with Sandaali song already a hit. Watchable, once!(more)

GV Prakash's rural drama has nothing new to offer

Sema is a decent family watch with all commercial elements. If you are up for a predictable storyline, then this film is your perfect choice this weekend.(more)

This GV Prakash film has nothing new to offer

Sema tries to follow in the footsteps of Naduvula Konjam Pakatha Kanom. NKPKs humour grows out of its unconventional premise, written with sensibility. Sema, on the other hand, hollows out the premise and reduces it to a caricature.(more)
