Pandigai Movie Review

The performances by the cast, right from Kreshna and Saravanan (who hog the most screen time) to supporting players like Nitinsathyaa (who is quite unrecognisable as an underling in the fight club) and even minor players like Shanmugarajan, are quite effective. The gangster-chic visuals of cinematographer Arvi and the energetic background score of RH Vikram lend the coolth that this kind of film needs, while Anbarivs punchy stunt choreography makes us feel the high stakes involved in the battle between Velu and company and Dada and his men. That said, the romantic track, involving Velu and Anandhi, who plays a typical Tamil cinema loosu ponnu, is an add-on that sits uncomfortably in this otherwise smart thriller. (more)

Director Feroz makes his debut with a well-written and packaged thriller

The film works largely due to the atmosphere and mood swings in the narration created by Feroz in his story telling. And the superbly choreographed raw and realistic action scenes of Anbu and Arivu, heightens the tension along with RH Vikrams stunning background score. The casting is perfect, with Krishna as Velu coming out with a stunning performance. Saravanan as Muni is outstanding and it is his best film after Paruthiveeran. Pandigai is a smart action thriller that will keep you hooked for a racy two hours and 10 minutes of entertainment.(more)

Pandigai has its celebratory moments

The detailing in action sequences is not seen with the love sequences. Had the director taken a bold decision to make this film without any love scenes, without any songs, Pandigai could have been a trendsetter. Debut director Feroz is here to stay.(more)
