An Interesting Dance

Pandiraj does a lot of things right in his first action film. He has not changed the template but has surely reworked a few things and kept things nice and tight. The initial hour involving the love track might seem a commercial compromise but it actually does play a part in the proceedings and impacts the way you see things and keep guessing the killer in the later half(more)

'Kathakali'- Doesn't have the expected intensity, but is a one time watch.

Kathakali can definitely be considered for a one time watch but it might fail to give you that 100% satisfaction that you may seek. (more)

Kathakali is a good entertainer that slowly builds into an action packed thriller.

The director wastes no time in getting into the groove; a ruthless goon Thamba, from Cuddalore with two trusted sidekicks builds his share of enemies who wait on an opportunity to pounce on him and not far away is our hero who returns back to India after a few years, predictably yes he has his own share of agony with the goon. Vishal's film is a good watch this Pongal

Director Pandiraj has delivered a thriller that is quite racy for the most part. As far as Vishal's role goes there are similarities with the roles he has essayed in some earlier films like Pandiyanadu. The actor has delivered a realistic performance in a role that shows a range of emotions from joy to sadness and anger. (more)

Fairly watchable thriller.

Pandirajs earlier film, Pasanga 2, was a well-intentioned mess, but hes regained a bit of form here. At least, this looks like a piece of cinema. Its shot well. It moves briskly. Theres a nice mass touch involving a selfie. Some thought has gone in. I know it doesnt sound like much, but we are at a stage with these star vehicles where some thought has gone in and not bad are active recommendations.(more)

A Decent Thriller

Director Pandiraj sure knows how to fabricate a thriller. The director, known for presenting high quality children films, will be signed in to helm more action-thrillers, post Kathakali. (more)

Kathakali is an edge of the seat murder mystery, which should not be missed.

Kathakali's biggest strength is the water tight screenplay of director Pandiraj, his intriguing writing is top notch as he makes audience guessing with twists and turns at regular intervals. Not just with the script, the director has perfectly set a one-day thriller with plenty of night and rain shots, which gives a unique style quotient to the film. (more)
