Aasal is for Ajith fans.

With a cast such as this, perfect settings and a reasonably complicated set-up, one would expect fireworks. What we do get instead, are intriguing situations that you hope are going to explode on-screen, but turn into damp squibs. The songs hinder the screenplay and the situations are brainless. This Asal will gain no great interest.

Asal is an out and out Ajith movie. It is indeed sad that such a potential team ended up shooting a rather weak script. But, on the brighter side, the script does manage to throw a few surprises when you least expect them. The camerawork keeps the viewer visually pleased, partially compensating for ...(more)

Substance comes way down in the list of priorities.

Cinematography apart, the journey from the story to the script (by hero Ajith Kumar, Yugi Sethu and Saran) is not as smooth or stylish, reminding us all over again how weak Tamil movies really are in this department. Asal's strong points are its style and an eyeful of muscle-toting Ajith Kumar, who ...(more)

Average fare.

The makers have given Aasal, a rich glossy look with exotic locations and costumes, enhanced by Prasanth D Misale's eye catching camera. Despite all the energy, the film falls flat due to lack of proper story and narration. Antony, the editor, has done an excellent job and made it fast paced. Kanal ...(more)

High on style, low on content. Strictly for Ajith fans.

Ajith debuts as co-director with this movie and is also credited with the dialogue, story and screenplay along with Saran and Yugi Sethu (who also stars in the film). The performances are measured, but the characterization could have been better. Prashanth D Misale's cinematography is top class, Ant...(more)

Action pot pourri.

Asal is a feast for all Ajith fans. Saran has totally reformed his creativity in Asal. Along with screen play writer Yuhi Sethu and few vital inputs from Ajith himself, Saran has made a platter of serious action story in this movie. Ajith's performance is admirable. The fight sequences are amazing. ...(more)

Aasal is a satisfactory movie to watch for Ajith fans and action lovers.

Great action, good visuals and not much to complain about technically, Ajith looks great and is all pumped up for the super action blocks. Unfortunately, the music of Bharadwaj, though interesting with songs inserted in the right places in the movie, doesn't match up to the otherwise superior look a...(more)
