10 film old Kreshna Kulasekharan is a man of very few words which comes as a complete contrast to his on-screen persona. In a quick chat with Movie Crow, the actor who is currently enjoying the success of Nibunan goes on to tell us about his choice of films, co-stars and more

Firstly congratulations on the success of Pandigai and Nibunan...

Thank you.

After the sucess of Pandigai, what made you follow-it up with a villain character in Nibunan?

I've always wanted to play negative. I was waiting all along for a role like this and what better way than to play it opposite Action King (Arjun).

We've watched Pandigai and the stunt sequence in the film looked really gruelling. How tough were they off-screen?

Yeah they were gruelling. There were many intentional hits here and there to retain the authenticity of the fights.

Was there a feedback / praise that stayed with you that made you believe you've arrived?

There has always been plenty of appreciation. As long as I'm not being criticized for my acting, I'm fine.

Your choice of films right from Alibhabha are not necessarily offbeat films but they do not into the mainstream template as well. Is this conscious and how do you select your films?

I don't think I choose films. Films have always chosen me. My choices are predominantly script-driven and I am happy to be one of the few actors whose films are chosen this way.

Almost all your films have been with debutant directors. Is this a coincidence or..

Its 110 percent co-incidence. I've always been a script-driven person and I've never rejected a film for its director. Besides, every great director was once a newbie, right?

Vanavarayan Vallavarayan, Vanmam and Yatchan - You haven't been averse to doing multi-starrers. How easy or difficult it is to share screen with another hero?

It is not difficult at all. My directors have always made sure that I never feel isolated or the opposite person - be it Vijay Sethupathi in Vanmam or Arya in Yatchan, feels neglected. And its very easy to share screen space as actors of this generation do not really have any issues with each other.

Talking about co-stars, two of your former leading ladies Oviya and Bindu Madhavi are participants of the Bigg Boss show. How are you finding them inside the house?

I am not a regular viewer but i've been keeping up with the updates on social media. I've watched Oviya inside the house and she is exactly the same off-screen as well. To those who claim she's acting - she's definitely not. I know Bindu Madhavi very well and am waiting to see what she has to offer to the show.

A few years down the line, What would you like to be known as - a credible actor or a saleable star?

Definitely a saleable actor because you've got to be able to make the film work and bring back the money for the producers.

The director signs off.
