Billa 2 Teaser Review

Franchise movies as a concept have not yet evolved in Tamil movies. Given the fact, it is very interesting to note that Billa-2 is not a sequel, but rather a prequel. It is most likely the first ever prequel in Tamil Cinema. The Billa-2 teaser, for this same reason has made every viewer curious as to know who Billa was? Was he good, moral, strong? For now, the only thing that we know is that David Billa was a self-made man, as you hear him saying 

"என் வாழ்கையில, ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் ஒவ்வொரு நிமிஷமும்,

ஏன், ஒவ்வொரு நொடியும் நானா செதுக்குனது டா"

Prequels have always evoked an element of curiosity among viewers. Christopher Nolan made a prequel to the batman series - "Batman Begins". This is probably one of the best prequels to have ever been made. Nolan presented Batman like never before. This was the man who was afraid of bats and had his own insecurities. Not to forget 'Casino Royale' which showed the early life of James Bond. All our life we were accustomed to seeing Bond as being stylish, suave and always emerging the winner, but it was in Casino Royale we saw James as a vulnerable person getting kicked and tortured.

Prequels are not bound by the 'image'. The character does not have to be invincible. The character can be weak, vulnerable or anything the director wants him to be, giving the directors a lot of creative space for showing the transformation. To know who was David Billa, we need to wait a few more months. Until then, we have to be satisfied with this gritty teaser!
