MovieCrow Box Office Report – March 13 to 15

Almost close to a dozen films released last weekend, but only Rajathandhiram made a positive impact among the audience. There was no concrete reason for such a desperate release for all of them. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Kakki Sattai

Sivakarthikeyan’s Kakki Sattai wasn’t threatened by lesser known new releases, as the movie continued its good run across majority of screens. The occupancy levels were particularly good in the multiplexes.

2. Mahabalipuram

Thanks to the presence of Kaunakaran, Mahabalipuram opened with maximum number of screens among new releases. However, the movie received underwhelming reviews from the critics.

3. Rajathandhiram

Directed by AG Amid, the movie took a decent opening as it had created a huge positive buzz with the help of innovative promotional strategies. With positive reviews flooding in, the movie is likely to get more screens this week.

Other Movies

Other new releases like Katham Katham, Vaanavil Vaazhkai and Ivanukku Thannila Gandam opened to negative reviews and their prospects don’t look bright. Siddharth’s Enakkul Oruvan, Tamiluku En Ondrai Aluthavum and Dhanush’s Anegan were going stead at multiplexes, while single screens replaced the movies with new releases.

Upcoming week’s releases

The upcoming weekend is again going to be bombarded with at least half-a-dozen hardly known films.
