Ab Tak Chhappan 2 Movie Review - Injustice to its iconic prequel!

Once, there was this great crime thriller based on the life of encounter specialist Daya Nayak which gave goosebumps to one and all who saw it. Brilliantly written and directed by Shamit Amin and amazingly performed by Nana Patekar. The sad part is that its sequel lacks the same things terribly.

To curb crime that has been increasing under the influence and control of the underworld Don, Rawale (operating from Bangkok) and Don, Rauf Lala (operating from Mumbai), the Home Minister and the Chief Minister need a capable officer who can take charge of the Mumbai Encounter Squad. Sadhu Agashe who was once holding the position and is currently facing several charges is the first choice. After several calls, the man has finally agreed to re-join the police force.

It is one of the shoddiest written scripts, production design, cinematography and a very abrupt background score kills the movie for its viewers. Even Nana is not able to save it. The debutant director Ejaz Gulab would have been better off not attempting this horribly made sequel.

Though Nana tries his best but is not able to save this drowning ship. His screen presence as always is magnificent and he tries very hard to make sense with the poorly written lines. Gul Panag and Ashutosh Rana are just average and offer nothing new or iconic. Rest of the cast lacks in terms of performance.

Ab Tak Chhappan 2 is not even for die hard Nana fans. If you want to watch it, go buy a DVD and watch Ab Tak Chhappan again.
