MovieCrow Box Office Report - February 20 to 22

In spite of two new releases last weekend, Anegan continued to rule the box office in Chennai across multiplexes as well as single screens. While Tamiluku En Ondrai Aluthavum received fair to positive reviews and had decent occupancy levels, the buzz for Sarathkumar's Sandamarutham was relatively low. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Anegan

Dhanush's Anegan has emerged as one of the most successful family entertainers in the recent times. Thanks to the 'Danga Maari' track, the movie has also been getting ample support from repeat audience. The multiplexes had scheduled for early morning special shows during the weekend, and most of them had full house occupancy.

2. Yennai Arindhaal

Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal managed to retain the bigger screens in the multiplexes, in spite of two new releases. The single screens had however replaced the film with new releases.

3. Tamiluku En Ondrai Aluthavum

The movie took a decent opening, due to Udhayanidhi Stalin's vigorous promotions and wide release. It would be interesting to see how the movie performs in the upcoming weekend, as biggie Kaaki Sattai is hitting the screens.

Other Movies

Sarathkumar's Sandamarutham received negative reviews, and the movie failed to entice the audience. Vikram's I was still running across a handful of screens in its 6th weekend.

Upcoming week's release

Sivakarthikeyan's Kaaki Sattai will be hitting the screens this Friday (February 27) and the movie is touted to be the biggest release for Sivakarthikeyan till date.
