MovieCrow Box Office Report - January 14 to 18
Three movies released during the long Pongal weekend, and among them, Vikram's I took a gargantuan opening across the globe on January 14. Vishal's Aambala and GV Prakash's Darling released a day later, i.e. on January 15. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.
1. I
Vikram is being celebrated by the movie buffs and critics alike, for his career-best performance. The movie couldn't have released at a better time, as the 5-day long weekend helped the movie to create few new box office records. However, many felt that Shankar's screenplay could not justify Vikram's stellar performance. (write your review)
2. Aambala
Vishal's Aambala, directed by Sundar C, took a decent opening, thanks to some popular names associated with the project. The movie received mixed reviews, and it was trashed by a section of media for the forced glamour content. ( Wirte your review )
3. Darling
Although a remake, newcomer Sam Anton's horror comedy Darling caught the attention of the moviegoers. The movie had full house occupancy at the multiplexes, and the shows were also increased across few centres. GV Prakash's debut acting performance also received fairly positive responses.
