MovieCrow Box Office Report -  September 19 to 21

As usual, several films hurried their way to hit the marquee last week. Among them, Sundar C's Aranmanai and director Badri's Aadama Jaichomada received mixed to positive reviews, while movies like Aal and Retta Vaalu literally went unnoticed. Check out the box office rankings of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Aranmanai

Thanks to Sundar C and Red Giant Movies, Aranmanai took a good opening across all centres. The movie has been getting good occupancy levels in spite of the mixed word of mouth.

2. Aadama Jaichomada

Director Badri's Aadama Jaichomada opened to decent reviews from the critics, who appreciated the innovative attempt. Also, Simha and Karunakaran were able to attract audience to the theatres.

3. Sigaram Thodu

Vikram Prabhu's Sigaram Thodu made way for new releases across many screens and the occupancy level has also taken a dip. The verdict at the box office will be known during this week.

Other Movies

Vaanavarayan Vallavarayan could not sustain at the multiplexes, after getting scathing reviews, while single screens have reduced their shows. Viddharth's Aal had a very low turnout, due to low key promotions. In spite of encouraging talks, Burma has turned out to be a dud at the box office, while movies like Anjaan, Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam, Jigarthanda and Velai Illa Pattathari were running across two or three screens in the city.

Upcoming week's releases

Karthi's Madras and Vishnu Vishal's Jeeva will be hitting the screens this weekend (September 26). Expect these two movies to almost wipe off all other films from the theatres.
