Aadama Jaichomada Review - A Madcap Match

Aadama Jaichomada  - A  Madcap  Match!!!

Bharath Vijayakumar

Cricket and Cinema are the two most popular means of entertainment in our country. Combining the two would seem an easy shot at the box office. But it is not as simple as it sounds and the maker has to get a lot of things right to emerge as a winner. Has Badri been able to do it with Aadama Jeichomada ?

Plot:

Police are on the lookout for the masterminds involved in betting and match fixing. A relatively innocent cab driver gets involved in this maze that also has a murder angle to it. What happens then is Aadama Jaichomada  in short.

Cast:

The film features Karunakaran and Bobby Simha in pivotal roles. Karunakaran can indeed be termed as the hero in the conventional sense as he has a pair and two duets to go along with it!!! He does seem a bit uncomfortable in the song and dance routine. Apart from this, Aadama Jaichomada  is another good outing for this comedian. Bobby Simha as the self proclaimed intelligent police officer is decent. It takes some time for us to get used to these two in a film that is rather overtly presented compared to the type of films they have been a part of till now. K.S.Ravikumar once again proves that he is at ease in front of the camera.

Dialogues:

Dialogues by Shiva catch our attention at places. 'According to chaos theory Supreme court is the reason behind match fixing' is one such. The problem is it seems Shiva's dialogues would have worked better had he mouthed them. They are of the type that work best when delivered non nonchalantly with a deadpan expression.

Direction:

Badri has made a madcap film that works at places and falls short at some. The length and the pace are what make Aadama Jaichomada eminently watchable. Things keep happening on screen and though most of them might not be presented in the most appropriate manner this hurriedness keeps us interested. The needless duets are really a sore. Moreso when the songs are hardly catchy. There are a lot of bold potshots taken. A couple of examples

'If you make a movie with punch dialogues you can release it in the neighbouring states but not here'.

'Why will a Maharashtra policeman be unable to speak Tamil when Afghan terrorists can do the same in Vishwaroopam? '

Bottomline:

Just like a T20 match director Badri keeps swinging his bat. Few find the middle of the bat, a few manage to get the edge and a few are complete misses. At the end the film is like watching a T20 match in which you are supporting neither teams and yet watch it as it does not hurt much thanks to it's happening nature and short duration.
