Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani Review - Expired Medicine!!!

Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani - Expired Medicine!!!
Bharath Vijayakumar

Comedy is serious business. But what can turn out to be more serious is watching a film that is supposed to be a comedy but not even remotely close to it.

Plot:

The basic thread is one that has been the elixir for comedy movies for eons. A lie to facilitate a marriage and then the cover ups to save the same is Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani (ATSVS)  in short.

Cast:

Completing 25 films in this era of stiff competition is definitely a sort of achievement for Bharath. There is a handful of noteworthy films that he has featured in the past decade ever since his debut with Boys in 2003.Unfortunately ATSVS is definitely not one among those and the actor has to retrospect immediately on his choice of films. There is a whole battalion of comedy actors in the film but negligible genuine moments of laughter. Everyone either hams it up or simply goes through the motions. We get a feel that the cast just chipped in during breaks from their other commitments to be a part of this film.

Crew:

The songs except the one involving Gana Bala are sheer cacophony and are a real test of patience, particularly the way they are filmed. The stunt sequences seem borrowed from some other irrelevant movie. These sequences are no way related to what is happening on screen and the huge importance that is given in these to show the hero as an action star reek of artificiality. The editing looks shoddy with scenes ending abruptly.

Direction:

Around twenty minutes into the film we are sure that we are in for a long haul of uninspired humour accompanied by a huge dosage of din . Either the makers had resigned to the fate of the movie very early on or they simply have taken the audience for granted. There is no continuity in the look of the leading man. In a particular scene Bharath sports trimmed facial hair when he gets on a bike and when he reaches the destination he has a thick moustache. This is just one of one the many instances. We are at a time when even important revealers in movies are not spoon fed and left to the understanding of the audience. At this hour comes a film like this when the most irrelevant of incidents are revealed to us as if we were all the while wondering what had actually transpired. If humour means people hamming it up and indulging in buffoonery then Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani might amuse you but even then only very slightly. Even Sidha medicine is taken for a ride with only a few random dialogues about it's benefits being spoken of as an afterthought to justify the title.

Bottomline:

Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani is a film that would have found it difficult to click with the audience even had it released five generations ago.
