Preview of Jigarthanda and Sarabham

Two interesting films, namely Jigarthanda and Sarabham are hitting the screens this Friday (August 1). With Velai Illa Pattathari and Sathuranga Vettai still running successfully, both the new films need to impress the critics as well the initial audience to keep the cash register ringing.

Jigarthanda

  • Coming from the man who delivered Pizza, Jigarthanda promises to be a strikingly different venture too. Touted to be a gangster flick, the movie has Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon as the lead pair.
  • Bobby Simha plays the role of a local don, and going by the trailer, his role is expected to be one of the highlights of the film. His raw looks and rustic body language add authenticity to the role.
  • Santhosh Narayanan's songs for the film are unique and one can expect his good work to continue in the background score department too.
  • Whenever a gangster flick is made in Tamil, movie buffs tend to compare it with Pudhupettai, and this film is no different. It will be interesting to see how this film stand out from the crowd. On a side note, the director has requested the audience not to reveal the twists after watching the film. Can we expect some unimaginable twists similar to the ones that were present in Pizza?

Sarabham

  • The first thing one notices about Sarabham is that it is produced by CV Kumar, the man with the midas touch. All his films so far have not only been offbeat films, but they have been successful at the box office too.The movie is directed by Arun Mohan.
  • Touted to be a crime thriller, the film has newbies Naveen Chandra and Salony in the lead, with Narain playing a pivotal role. The lesser known cast might struggle initially to bring in audience to the theatres, but once word of mouth reaches people, the movie could very well become a hit.
  • Sarabham is being released by a newly formed banner 'Dream Factory', which is spearheaded by KE Gnanavelraja, Sashikanth, Elred Kumar, CV Kumar, Abinesh Elangovan and Laxmanan. When this movie turns successful, it would start a new trend in the Tamil film industry, wherein combined distribution will streamline the release dates.
