Karthik Subbaraj speaks about Jigarthanda hurdles

Karthik Subbaraj is a director who delivered a blockbuster movie Pizza in his first directorial attempt. However his journey in Tamil Cinema Industry was not smooth. His second venture Jigarthanda with Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon is a gangster flick has facing troubles from the day it went to censor.

The hurdles for Jigarthanda

The movie initially postponed, as it received a U/A certification and the film producer Kathiresan wanted Karthik to edit few scenes to get a clean U and the tax exemption. However Karthik doesn't compromise on removing any scenes from the movie. Later the movie postponed due to Kochadaiyaan release. And then it was announced that movie will release on July 25th. The director and actor Siddharth were promoting the film on social networks. But to everyone's surprise the producer without consulting the actor or director changed the release date to Aug 1, as VIP was blocking all the screens. Actor Siddharth miffed over the postponement on twitter.

The Director's reaction

Karthik Subbaraj spoke to the media and expressed that he never expected that this would become a big issue and he decided to take this as a learning experience and in future, resolve any similar issues with the producer at the very beginning of the movie. He also thanked director Ram and other people from the industry. The movie is now slated to release on Aug 1.
