GV Prakash VS Sudhish Kamath

Visitor Opinion about GV Prakash versus Sudhish Kamath (The Hindu Movie Critic)

Do Critics get any professional training regarding journalism, media policies, behavioral guidelines before they take up a job with leading News dailies? The standards of movie critics stooped to an abysmally low level yesterday with infamous Sudhish Kamath of The Hindu Network picking up a "Kuzhaayadi Sandai" with GV Prakash in Twitter. Many cine celebrities have boycotted him because he picked up a similar fight with Vikram by questioning Vikram's sexuality in his Kandasamy review. He also said Sarath Kumar flaunted his Hairy Chest and Man Boobs in his review of his movie, 1977. Sudhish has directed two movies and both of them are big DUDs. Starving for some public attention, he decided to target GV Prakash's music in Mayakkam Enna. This is what he had to say about GV Prakash in his review which started it all...

"I really don’t want to comment on GV Prakash’s score. I am afraid to credit this young composer with any good work because he has constantly proved to be a THIEF. That is the thing when you steal and do it more than once, nobody believes you when it is really yours. Once you are in the business of stealing, you are a thief no matter what else you do."

In response to the review comment, Sudhish claims that GV Prakash had abused him over the phone and sent him nasty SMS text messages,

AR Rahman's nephew on me: MT @GVPrakash Sathyamku poneengana avan kozhandha vayasula naalu ponnunga thoalla kaiya pottu thadavittu iruppaan"

GV Prakash called Sudhish as BIASED, JUDGEMENTAL and asked to GROW UP. Sudhish responded by making many below the belt comments by constantly referring GV Prakash as a Boy, Kid, AR Rahman's Nephew.

Questions to the Movie Critic

Without further getting into all the ugly details, here are some questions to Sudhish Kamath

  • As a critic, you can only critique the product and the not the person. Calling GV Prakash a THIEF is irresponsible and shows lack of journalistic ethics. Even in court of law, there are strict rules about calling a person a thief before a verdict is given. Are you okay about somebody calling you a "Douchebag" publicly in the name of critiquing your movies or write-ups?

  • Even in Manmadhan Ambu, Kamal Haasan had copied the entire reverse narrative song from Cold Play's Scientist without giving any credits. Manirathnam used a few scenes ditto from Godfather in Nayagan. Even AR Rahman was once accused of using DR. Alban's loop in a song from Muthu. Do you have *Balls* to call Kamal Haasan, AR Rahman, Mani Rathnam as THIEVES?

  • What is the need to pull AR Rahman in this discussion by constantly referring to GVPrakash as ARR's Nephew?

  • When Sudhish was slandering a fellow creator on a social site, Dhayanidhi Alagiri, Venkat Prabhu, CS Amudhan never condemned nor try to stop this ugly fight. Instead, they all seemed to be energized and tweet levels spiked up... Venkat Prabhu Saaaar, is this the way you would react if Sudhish calls You or Yuvan a THIEF?

  • When it is considered indecent to fight on the streets, why do you think it is perfectly alright to fight in front of millions of people on twitter. Damage done is the same irrespective of whether the happens in physical world or virtual communities!

  • Doesn't Sudhish feel it is morally irresponsible for taking conversations and arguments that happened between two people behind closed doors to be publicized in front of 100s of 1000s of people? If people did that in real world by plastering posters on the walls to slander another person, Isn't such an act worth condemning?

Why do people who behave like gentlemen in real life end up having a verbal diarrhea on a social media which has the power to reach millions of people in a few seconds? Shouldn't the behaviors be EXACTLY the other way around especially for celebrities and critics on Social Media platforms? Shouldn't they all try to be more thoughtful about their choice of words and actions?
