Rajinikanth is the second most preferred CM in Tamil Nadu, says Opinion Poll

An insights opinion poll conducted by India Today in association with Karvy Research suggests that Rajinikanth is the second most preferred choice of the people of Tamil Nadu to become the Chief Minister of the state. His name follows DMK's working supremo M.K. Stalin who the poll suggests will win with a vote share of 34 percent. Thought the numbers indicate that AIADMK still has a majority over the actor-politician, his name was voted the second best among the preferred CMs leaving O. Paneer Selvam and others behind.

The poll was conducted in 77 of the 234 constituencies over a period of 6 days i.e (January 7, 2018 - January 12, 2018). Prediction is that Rajinikanth's yet to be named party could win 16 percent of the votes, which is not too bad for a political debutant. The poll says that the actor turned politician could walk away with 33 of the 234 seats in the next Assembly elections; summarising that if the TN elections were held today, these are the numbers each party would walk away with :

  • DMK - 130
  • AIADMK - 68
  • Rajinikanth - 33
  • Others - 3
