Agnyaathavaasi sets a new Chennai city opening record

Though content wise, Agnyaathavaasi is a big disappointment, the film has registered a solid opening all over the world. In Chennai city, the film has set a new opening day record for a Telugu film grossing 24 lakhs. The previous record Day 1 for a Telugu film in the city was Khaidi 150 with 20 lakhs. 


Spyder Telugu 18 lakhs, Jai Lava Kusa 16 lakhs and Baahubali 2 Telugu 14 lakhs are some of the other outperforming Telugu openers in the city. Agnyaathavaasi will lose a lot of its screens and shows tomorrow (Jan 12) as the 3 Tamil Pongal releases -TSK, Sketch and Gulaebaghavali will release in most of the TN release centers.
