Mersal producers remove GST scene
Following the oppositon and objection from various ministers of the ruling central government, Sri Thenandal Films, producers of Vijay-starrer Mersal, have decided to chop off the GST scene from the film. The scene in question had lead actor Vijay comparing India with Singapore and how the latter had lower tax rates yet provided better medical facilities.

Earlier today when the decision had not been taken, Mersal received a vote of support from director Pa. Ranjith who was of the opinion that the scenes need not be removed. However, the film faced strong criticism from BJP leaders Tamilisai Soundarajan, H. Raja among many others following which the decision seems to have been taken.
