Director Saran is back in the game with Aayirathil Iruvar, which releases today. The film has Vinay in dual roles, with three new glamorous heroines for company. Saran regular Bharadwaj has scored the music, while Kabilan Vairamuthu, Vairamuthu and the director himself have written the lyrics for the songs.

Saran has the distinction of having worked with Thala Ajith in 4 films, over his career spanning 20 long years. In a recent interview he fondly recollected his experiences with Thala,

"Ajith's growth has been achieved with random steps. It's not a measured or planned graph. He has proved himself in all types of roles - chocolate boy, action hero, intense performer and as a mass commercial icon. When it comes to certain people, there is no particular reason as to why people like them so much. Ajith is one such star.
