Tamil actress Gautami Tadimalla, who was last seen onscreen in Kamal Haasan's Paapanaasam, has been appointed as one of the many members of the newly formed Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Recently, former CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani was removed from the post and he will now be succeedes by the famous Bollywood lyricist Prasoon Joshi. Telugu actress Jeevitha Rajasekar is the other South Indian celebrity to be appointed to the board.

Other names that have been added to the list of this newly formed board are Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, T.S. Nagabharana, Vani Tripati Tikoo, Narendra Kohli, Naresh Chandra Lal, Neil Herbert Nongkynrih, Waman Kendre and Ramesh Patange. The decision for a reformed Censor Board, by the Press Beaureu of India (PIB) has been welcomed by many, as most of the film-makers were of the view that the former Nihalani-headed board was unreasonably stringent.
