After several reports and speculations over the fate of Prabhu Deva's directorial venture Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja, it has now been confirmed that the film has halted shooting and has been shelved for the time being. The decision was made after lead actors Karthi and Vishal felt that the script needed to undergo some changes. According to sources, this movie which began shooting earlier this month admist the ongoing theatre strikes might get revived in future with a new star cast, if the script changes are implemented. 

Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja was said to be based on a social message and was written by the late writer-director K Subaash. The film also had Sayyesha Seghal in the lead with Harris Jayaraj for the music and cinematographer Soundararajan for the camera. It was being produced under Prabhu Deva Studios, the director's home banner.
