‘Jagga Jasoos’ sequel scrapped?

Before ‘Jagga Jasoos’ released, Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor had confirmed that the film would see a sequel. However, due to the bad reception the film has received, it seems this plan has now been scrapped.

A source told Box Office Capsule, “Anurag Basu had written the film as an ongoing series — the adventures of Jagga Jasoos – just like Satyajit Ray filmed the adventures of ‘Feluda’. But making ‘Jagga Jasoos’ was not easy. It has been an exhausting experience. And audiences’ response is not encouraging enough. So the sequel won’t happen”.

The film, which starred Katrina Kaif alongside Kapoor, has received mixed reviews from critics but hasn’t done very well at the box office. Interestingly, the end of the film did give way to a second instalment so it remains to be seen whether the film does get a sequel.
