Excerpts from 2.0 3D Digital Meet

Amid the 3rd day of the ongoing theatre shutdown in Tamil Nadu, makers of Rajinikanth's upcoming film 2.0 conducted a 3D Mela, an event aimed at promoting the usage of latest 3D equipments in theatre screens across the state. An excerpt from the press meet of this event can be seen here.

1. Lyca Productions head Raju Mahalingam confirmed thay 2.0 will hit theatre screens on January 25, 2018. This is the first time he has confirmed the release day with an accurate date. 

2. He reinstated the purpose of the event by stating that he wishes to see the current number of 1500+ 3D screens in India compete with the 20,000+ 3D screens in China. 

3. He stated that due to the ongoing confusion in tax rates caused by GST and double taxation, the management of Lyca Productions has decided not to fund any new Tamil movies. 

4. However he reassured that the current undertakings like Rajinikanth starrer 2.0, Kamal Haasan starrer Sabaash Naidu, Dhanush starrer Vada Chennai, Udhayanidhi Stalin starrer Ippadai Vellum and Sai Pallavi starrer Karu by AL Vijay will not be affected because of this decision. 

5. Apart from the release date, Mahalingam also confirmed the audio launch date i.e. October, 2017 at Dubai and said that this Shankar directorial will release across 10,000+ screens in India. He expects around 300+ 3D screens in Tamil Nadu alone to be ready by the film's release.
