5 Mersal highlights from the first look of Vijay 61

The first look of Vijay's 61st film Mersal was released this evening, serving as the perfect treat for his fans on the occasion of his upcoming birthday. A few things that turned out to be complete surprise elements and as revealed by the poster are highlighted below :

1. The poster has Vijay in a complete rural avatar. Though this does not come as a total surprise (as it was already known that one of the roles Vijay is playing is that of a Panchayat head), it sure did take everyone aback by making it to the opening poster. This rural avatar come to foray after Thirupachi, Velayudham and the like.

2. The background of the poster indicates a Jallikattu ground - a topic Vijay has strongly stood for and gotten lauded in his off-screen life. So whether the movie will have a Jallikattu connect is something we will have to wait and watch.

3. The Jallikattu element is also hinted in the title font. The first letter is designed to represent the hump of a bull and the last letter represents its tail.

4. Since it is also known that Baahubali writer Vijendra Prasad has helmed the screenplay, the additional factors of Vijay in a triple role with Jallikattu and rural connect promises nothing less of a blockbuster story.

5. And Mersal has already proven itself to be a coming-of-age film, as the lead actor Vijay who has so far used the title Ilayathalapathy has opted for "Thalapathy" in this one.
