Aamir Khan denied rumours that his upcoming film Thugs of Hindostan is inspired by the Johnny Depp-starrer Pirates of the Caribbean.

At an event, on being asked about Thugs of Hindostan being inspired from Pirates of Caribbean, Aamir Khan said, “The film is not inspired from any other film. It is an action adventure film but the story is not similar. There are some hundreds of action adventure films. There is ‘Pirates of Caribbean’, there is ‘Indiana Jones’ and many others. All these are action adventure films. So the genre of our film is action adventure but the story is different. Even my character in the film is not similar to any other character.”

International Stunt Directors have been hired to choreograph the action scenes of Thugs of Hindostan. The film is a period film based in 1860’s and around that time frame and Aamir Khan has confirmed the period setting of the film while promoting Dangal. The film is reportedly based on a novel – Confessions of Thug. The film is being made on a humongous budget and it will easily be one of the most costliest films to have come out of India.

Thugs of Hindostan begins shooting on June 1. The film is slated to release on Diwali 2018 making it Aamir Khan’s first full fledged film since Dangal. He plays an extended role in Secret Superstar so we are not considering it a full fledged film of Aamir Khan.

The film stars Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles.
