Rajinikanth's open letter to Srilankan Tamils

A week after news page headlines were hogged by Rajinikanth's charity visit to Jaffna, Sri Lanka, many pro-Tamil fringe groups raised their discontent with the actor's visit to their neighboring country. Conceding to their request, the superstar cancelled his trip in which he was supposed to present keys to 150 homes built by Gnanam Foundation for the displaced Tamil families.

[Gnanam Foundation is a NGO of Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions which is also bankrolling the actor's upcoming movie 2.0]. Addressing the Tamils of Sri Lanka in his open letter, Rajinikanth wrote:

"Your affection has come to my knowledge through media outlets. I do not have words to express how thankful I am. Let us all only think good. May only the good happen. We shall meet when the time comes. I pray to God that you all live good."

The reason stated by these fringe groups for not recommending the actor's proposed visit to Sri Lanka is the current scenario of Tamils there. According to them, the army personnel posted in Tamil-populated regions in Sri Lanka have not been withdrawn, and the Tamils are being denied back their land and equal rights. So bringing in a celebrity of Rajinikanth's status would give a false projection that everything is good right now.
