Jallikattu supporters say no to Nadigar Sangam hunger strike

The South Indian Artistes Association which is better known as the Nadigar Sangam announced that it would observe a day long hunger strike as a boost of support to the solidarity shown in the case of Jallikattu. It was announced that the hunger strike will be observed on Friday i.e. January 20, 2017 and that all artistes of the Kollywood film fraternity would be taking part in it. Actor Ponvannan, who is the vice-president of the body said,

"This is a protest to express our solidarity for all those who have been protesting on ground for the last two days. We really hope the Centre speeds up legal action and allows the conduct of Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu."

While actor Ajith who is generally reclusive is also expected to be a part of this silent movement, the announcement has not gone down well with some of the youth supporters of these protests. According to them, the protest demanding the revoke of the ban on Jallikattu is entirely youth-driven and if stars wish to take part in it, they should come to the field like Hiphop Tamizha, Raghava Lawrence, Silambarasan, G.V. Prakash and R.J. Balaji. This irksome announcement of conducting something on their own has left many of the opinion that these stars are trying to hog the limelight. These tweets trending in the name of #SayNotoNadigarSangam stands proof of the above statement.
