Director Vetrimaaran to make Vaadivaasal into a movie

While chaos over the topic of Jallikattu continues to haunt the state, director Vetrimaaran has announced that he has acquired the rights of the 1949 novel, Vaadivaasal written by C.S. Chellappa. (The novel was translated by N. Kalyan Raman and published in English in 2013).The director who has been quite vocal about his support for the sport recently mentioned this development during one of his interviews. The book which is based on the bull-taming sport of Jallikattu is said to be a masterful account of not only the traditional sport but also the people who engaged in it. Though the book has been adapted into short movies so far, this is the first time it has been announced to be made into a feature film. An official announcement on the project developments are expected to happen soon.
