MovieCrow Box Office Report – May 27 to 29

STR – Pandiraj's long pending film, Idhu Namma Aalu had hit the screens last weekend along with few hardly known films. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Idhu Namma Aalu

STR's Idhu Namma Aalu, directed by Pandiraj, opened to mixed reviews from the critics and movie buffs alike. While a section of the audience called the film as a breezy entertainer, another section blamed the second half of the film big time. Although the movie has taken a good opening, we will have to wait and see if it overcomes the mixed word of mouth and holds on during the weekdays.

2. Marudhu

Vishal's Marudhu lost majority of its screens in the second weekend and turned out to be an average outing in Chennai. Vishal might have to experiment more to impress the audience.

3. 24

Suriya's 24 continued to attract the crowd across multiplexes, while the single screens had replaced the movie with new releases.

4. Uriyadi

Debutant Vijay Kumar's Uriyadi has been getting rave reviews for its bold and engaging content. However, due to limited release, the movie hasn't got the attention it deserved.

Other Movies

Vijay's Theri and Udhayanidhi's Manithan were still running across a few screens in the city with limited occupancy levels.

Upcoming week's releases

Karthik Subbaraj's Iraivi and Vishnu Vishal's Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran will be clashing at the box office on June 3.
